Testimonies of Healing

The reading of a testimony in a recent copy of The Christian Science Journal awakened me to my duty, also to my privilege, of testifying to what Christian Science has brought into my life. Christian Science has given me the true concept of God, and if I could testify to nothing more I have found that it is this true concept which enables me to prove that nothing else is but God and His idea.

It is with a heart full of love and gratitude that I am writing this testimony of healing. I was almost a cripple with rheumatism in my hips and feet, but while studying Christian Science in search of another healing the rheumatism disappeared, and I am entirely healed of any thought of it.

Having derived so much benefit from the testimonies of others, I feel that I should send mine to show in a small way my appreciation of all that Christian Science has done for me. Several years ago I was stung by an insect which poisoned me badly.

Several years ago I experienced severe pain in my right leg, making it impossible for me to stand. I tried to lie down on the sofa but was unable to do so and in great pain took up a copy of Der Herold.

Christian Science has brought many blessings into my experience. I came into a knowledge of the truth through treatment for severe inflammatory rheumatism of many years' standing, which medicine, mineral springs, and doctors' prescriptions had failed to cure.

I can never express in words the gratitude I feel for all the blessings I have received through Christian Science. I was suffering severely from a belief of blood poisoning all through my body, and when all material remedies failed to relieve me and the doctor said he could do no more for me, a dear friend brought a Christian Science practitioner to my home, and I was healed the same day; in fact, the practitioner came about three o'clock in the afternoon and I arose from my bed and attended to some household duties.

Having received so many benefits from reading the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal I should like to take this opportunity of expressing at least a portion of my gratitude. Several years ago I was given proof of the statement that "man's extremity is God's opportunity.

I wish to tell of some of the blessings that have come to me and mine through the study of Christian Science. I have been cured of constipation from which I had suffered all my life.

About eighteen years ago my eyes became badly affected. I suffered greatly and was obliged to stay in a darkened room most of the time and when coming into the light I wore glasses that were almost black.

On November 11, 1918, Armistice Day, a day memorable to all, especially to the soldier, the roar of the Sims ceased, and "there was a great calm. " While the tumult of this particular stage of the strife between right and wrong has died away in the distance, the spiritual lessons coming to me from my participation in the war have endured and will be a constant source of inspiration.
