Testimonies of Healing
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for a beautiful healing experienced a few years ago of an internal trouble of many years' standing, through the reading of the chapter on Prayer in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I have also been healed of acute indigestion, lumbago, and many other physical discords.
I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have had in Christian Science. I have been healed of neuralgia, infection of a finger, a nasal growth, influenza, nervousness, and worry.
Christian Science healed me of enlargement of the liver and spleen, and a short time after enabled me to overcome the tobacco habit, and has since been my only resort for every need. I began using tobacco when quite a small boy and had used it to such an extent that the doctor said it was affecting my heart and advised me to discontinue its use.
It is with deep gratitude that I testify to the help I am daily receiving through the study of Christian Science. I used to suffer from a violent temper and extreme irritability, but to a very great extent this condition has been overcome, and in its place I am learning to manifest love and gentleness.
When I first heard of Christian Science the reading of the testimonies published in Le Héraut immediately awakened my interest. I procured Mrs.
Christian Science came to me in the darkest moment of my life when everything seemed to be in a state of chaos, and mortal sense suggested that I would either pass away or lose my reason, and indeed the former seemed preferable, and self-destruction was contemplated. It was at this point that I consented to Christian Science treatment.
A few years ago I was taken ill with pneumonia. I may say that I had been in the liquor business for twenty-five years; not that I am proud of it, but nevertheless that was the business I was in.
The benefits I have received from Christian Science are so manifold that I feel it is my duty to add my testimony to the great wealth of those given weekly and monthly in the Sentinel and Journal, and from which I have reaped such untold blessings. I have gained health, happiness, and success through the study of Christian Science, which was taken up "when all material streams" had dried and when every remnant of a belief in God had been abandoned.
Some time ago I was saved from what might have been a fatal accident through the protecting power of God, as understood through the teaching of Christian Science. I was driving in a taxi with two friends, and was seated with my back to the driver.
Well do I remember the delight with which I habitually attacked a new set of arithmetic examples during my school days, once the teacher had given the explanation necessary to establish in my thought the rule by which to work out the solutions. With the rule at my command, no problem of the set could make me doubt my ability to arrive at the correct answer, provided always that I did my part by way of making correct application of the rule involved.
