Testimonies of Healing

When I read the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel I am filled with gratitude to know that the word of God is as potent to heal now as when Jesus lived and worked among men. I have read many testimonies which told how the writers had wondered, before studying Christian Science, why healings were not done now, as in Bible times; but those healings were to me altogether in the past, and seemed too miraculous for this age; and so I could not understand much of the Bible.

I began to study Christian Science in December, 1916. I had been very ill for four years, suffering from bronchitis, weak stomach, anæmia, and other troubles.

In gratitude for Christian Science I am sending this testimony. I have been healed of a great many discordant conditions.

Nearly two years ago the clothing of my little two-year-old daughter caught on fire from a gas stove and she was badly burned. My very first thought was of turning to God for healing.

With a grateful and happy heart I wish to testify to the wonderful manner in which God's love protected and guided me during the war and the help which I have received through Christian Science. As I was going to the front, this serious question confronted me: "What stand shall I take toward my opponent during the battle?" The answer was the simple statement: made by Mrs.

It is with much gratitude that I send in this testimony of the healing of my eyes. It is seven years or so since this demonstration was made, and I have awakened to the fact that it is well nigh time I was sending it in to the Sentinel or Journal.

It is now six years since I first heard of or learned anything about Christian Science. I was then living with a family in Switzerland, one of whom had been healed through Science.

I have so much for which to be grateful that I scarcely know how to begin. About nine years ago I was healed through the clear thinking of a dear sister, after being told by two of our best surgeons that without a surgical operation I would never be well.

Feeling the great need of expressing my gratitude to God for Christian Science I submit this testimony. When I began to investigate Christian Science I had no great need of physical healing, but I was healed of many erroneous thoughts and beliefs through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy.

My gratitude for the wonderful healing, chastening, and uplifting, yet divinely natural light experienced through even the least understanding of Christian Science, is quite beyond expression either in word or deed. Only through striving to attain to a closer walk with God and with some measure of loving service can gratitude be expressed.
