Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science means a great deal to me,—more than can be expressed in words. It was over a rough and rugged road that I came looking for the truth, for something that would meet my needs every day in the year.

It is with profound gratitude to God that I give this testimony. I had never heard of Christian Science, but through a friend was led to the truth that makes free, and in two treatments was healed of a critical case of typhoid fever.

I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has done and is doing for myself and all mankind. Through the application of this truth I have been healed of chronic nose and throat trouble, also of bowel and stomach disorder, and of eye trouble which necessitated the wearing of glasses for over ten years.

I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science through the columns of our periodicals, in the hope that it may be of help and encouragement to others. Nine years ago I was as bitterly prejudiced against Christian Science as any one could be, but when my father was instantaneously healed of bronchitis, after the doctors had given him up, I was unspeakably thankful to have him alive and well, though secretly fearing that the means of his healing was the work of the devil.

As a child I had very poor eyesight, and at eleven years of age was fitted with glasses but got no better. I suffered from my eyes and severe headaches most all the time, and had no education on that account.

I gratefully offer the following testimony of the healing power of divine Love. From childhood to my thirtieth year I was a sufferer from so-called bilious headaches, which developed into gall-stones, and this in turn into colic.

For some time I have had a desire to tell of what God has done for me through Christian Science. For several years I was afflicted with sciatic rheumatism and at times suffered severely.

A number of years ago I became afflicted with acute nervousness, which later brought on stomach and bowel trouble. I tried several physicians, also different methods of treatment, but without getting any permanent relief, and at times it seemed as if I would lose my reason.

With joy and deep gratitude to Christian Science I write this testimony of God's healing presence and loving care. In the summer of 1914 my sister, who had recently returned from a hospital after an operation, was very much depressed, as she did not feel that she was permanently relieved, and her condition imposed a heavy burden on every member of our family.

For eight years I suffered from a severe nervous trouble which resulted in almost permanent incapacity to work. I tried "nature cures" and vegetarianism; but although I experienced a measure of relief, there was no cure.
