Testimonies of Healing

A number of years ago, while at the shore, I fell and broke my arm. When my husband asked me what I intended to do, I answered that I should have a surgeon; that if by morning conditions were no better we would go to the city, but in the mean time we would know that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p.

For over six years I had been reading Science and Health, mostly with the desire for bodily health or ease from pain, and with little or no thought of any change in religious views, as I thought I was good enough. Then I was stricken with a very serious illness, but from the beginning refused to have a physician or medicine, as there was a sense of security in God's presence and power.

A native of Brussels, I found myself at Ostend when the war broke out. Being exempt from military service, I did not go to war, but my brothers went, and in October, after two months of waiting, I had to flee.

Each day brings to the student of Christian Science renewed assurance of the ever-presence and all-power of God. A recent experience gave me ample opportunity to test this.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I offer this testimony to the healing power of Christian Science. In July, 1908, when in a serious physical condition, I entered a local hospital.

Christian Science means a great deal to me,—more than can be expressed in words. It was over a rough and rugged road that I came looking for the truth, for something that would meet my needs every day in the year.

It is with profound gratitude to God that I give this testimony. I had never heard of Christian Science, but through a friend was led to the truth that makes free, and in two treatments was healed of a critical case of typhoid fever.

I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science through the columns of our periodicals, in the hope that it may be of help and encouragement to others. Nine years ago I was as bitterly prejudiced against Christian Science as any one could be, but when my father was instantaneously healed of bronchitis, after the doctors had given him up, I was unspeakably thankful to have him alive and well, though secretly fearing that the means of his healing was the work of the devil.

I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has done and is doing for myself and all mankind. Through the application of this truth I have been healed of chronic nose and throat trouble, also of bowel and stomach disorder, and of eye trouble which necessitated the wearing of glasses for over ten years.

As a child I had very poor eyesight, and at eleven years of age was fitted with glasses but got no better. I suffered from my eyes and severe headaches most all the time, and had no education on that account.
