Testimonies of Healing

After I had taken medicine for some twenty years and had sought health by other means for a long time, Christian Science was brought to my notice, and as material remedies gave only temporary relief I decided to try it. The study of the Bible with the spiritual interpretation given in Science and Health and Mrs.

Though I have only recently taken up the study of Christian Science, the wonderful results obtained and the great blessings already derived impel me to do my share in spreading the knowledge of Truth. I had long ago given up the study of the Bible, being unable to accept any of the numerous interpretations, which I labeled as doctrines of fear.

As nearly as I can tell, it was in September, 1911, that I first heard of Christian Science, and words fail to express my thankfulness to God for it. We are likewise grateful to Mrs.

REARED in the thought that I had inherited a delicate constitution, I reached maturity the victim of many false beliefs. As a child I was unable to attend school regularly, and because of physical weakness had to refrain from many of the active sports of youth.

It is with much joy and gratitude that I send this testimony of my healing in Christian Science. I had been ill with a complication of diseases for more than fifteen years, a constant sufferer night and day.

Our Master, Jesus the Christ, said in his Sermon on the Mount, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you. " This injunction seemed utterly impracticable, for I felt that whereas I might forgive a wrong done unto me, I would never be able quite to forget it.

" Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?" expresses the state of my consciousness which was answered by the sweet assurance, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings" (Science and Health, Pref. , p.

I take great pleasure in giving my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me, for my heart is so full of thankfulness to God that my great desire is to let others know of my experience. Two years ago I was compelled always to use one and much of the time two crutches to get around to attend to my household duties.

In September, 1910, on my way to the marine hospital at Port Townsend, Wash. , I met a man on the steamer who asked me what was the matter and where I was going.

I have so very much for which to be grateful to Christian Science that it is hard to know where to begin to tell about it. For something like nineteen years it has been my only help, and it has never failed me when honestly applied.
