Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science is teaching me to be grateful for good and is putting out of my thought the fear of evil. A quite remarkable healing came to me three years ago, and it may be helpful to mention it to others, as it has helped me and made me stronger in faith.

For ten years I was a great sufferer from an abnormal growth of a fibrous nature, also from stomach and bowel trouble. I was able to eat only certain kinds of foods, and at times could have nothing but milk.

I too would join in that grand chorus of praise and gratitude which is being sent forth through our periodicals, in the hope that others who hear it may likewise come into the freedom revealed in Christian Science. Although pronounced a hopeless invalid by physicians and friends, I still had an inner conviction that there was a way out of my suffering if I could only find it.

Like many others who know little or nothing about Christian Science, I condemned it publicly and privately. When a sister living in a distant state wrote that she was interested in Christian Science I was greatly displeased.

I have had many proofs of the healing power of divine Love, both in sorrow and in physical sufferings. I was supposed to be a rather delicate child.

In 1908, while daily praying that my husband might be healed of the liquor habit, I was handed a paper containing the testimony of a man who had been healed of this same discordant condition. Deciding at once that what would heal one would heal others, I started out to investigate Christian Science.

I am a willing witness to the healing power of Christian Science, having had a serious struggle with disease, namely, appendicitis. I had great confidence in my physician, but all he could do for me was to give a hypodermic until I could make up my mind for an operation, which he insisted was very necessary.

Some years ago I took up the study of Christian Science when all material remedies had failed me. I had been given up by many doctors and specialists, who had told me they could do nothing more for me as I was in the last stages of tubercular disease and also had an incurable trouble which an operation might relieve if my condition would permit one.

I am greatly pleased to be able to testify to the good received through Christian Science. When my youngest child was born there was a small red spot on his face, and it spread all over the body.

Among other things Christian Science has cured me of tubercular disease after every known remedy had been applied and failed. After I had been ill with throat and lung trouble for several years, one of the best physicians in southern Minnesota told my sister I could not live six months and advised my seeing a well known specialist at once.
