Testimonies of Healing

I write this testimony with the prayer that it may help those who read it to understand how and why Christian Science is bringing mankind out of darkness into the light, as it has brought me. In May, 1912, I returned to California to die, as I supposed.

The Lord "set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. " This passage from the Psalms expresses most clearly the transformation brought about by a knowledge of Truth, in overcoming not only a condition of ill health but its attendant mental and financial trouble.

Although I was brought up very strictly in a religious way, when Christian Science found me I was in a very unhappy state of mind, as I had begun to doubt everything,—even at times whether there was a God. When I realized the teaching of Christian Science that God is Love and All-in-all, and that I no longer had to fear a literal hell, it seemed too wonderful to be true.

For over six years I have been enjoying the blessed freedom that Truth brings in Christian Science. I did not come to Science for healing, but through the desire for "a closer walk with God.

It is now four years since I experienced a most wonderful healing through the truth as found in Christian Science. For years I had intermittently suffered both day and night from a skin trouble.

Several years ago, when broken in health and thoroughly despondent, I was lovingly led to Christian Science. A prominent physician in this city had told me that unless I underwent an operation to rid me of an abnormal growth of eight years' standing, I would be an invalid for life.

Over five years have elapsed since I took up the study of Christian Science. I had been an invalid for more than twenty years, suffering from a complication of diseases, namely, nervousness, extreme weakness, chronic bowel difficulty, female trouble, bronchitis, heart disease, kidney trouble, and an abnormal growth at the end of the spine.

Christian Science has brought about greater harmony in my business and given me more faith in God. I read the Bible more than ever before, as the understanding of Science and Health makes the Scriptures clear, and I know Christian Science to be a practical, every-day religion.

The understanding of God as taught in Christian Science has brought untold blessings into our lives. A few years ago, when almost passing away with heart trouble, I was instantly healed through the power of Truth.

It is now over two years since I was healed, through Christian Science, of a serious internal displacement, a condition of long standing. A surgical operation having been unsuccessful, and a second one being advised, I asked for Christian Science treatment.
