Testimonies of Healing

I began to study Christian Science about five years ago, when my mother was healed by it after the doctors had decided that nothing more could be done for her. She had been ill for four years from so-called stomach, kidney, and heart troubles.

For some time it has been my desire, and I believe my duty, to tell what Christian Science has done for me and mine. This great truth has been demonstrated several times in our home.

About three years ago I had a most remarkable experience in the way of healing, a very beautiful demonstration of the efficacy and possibilities of the truth, and it is with deep gratitude to God for Christian Science that I tell of it. I had not been feeling very well for a day or two, and foolishly participated in a very strenuous game of baseball.

In August, 1911, while in perfect health, I was suddenly stricken unconscious and fell down stairs. When I regained consciousness, my right side, from head to foot, seemed terribly bruised and in great pain, but I rose to my feet, giving no heed to the body, and declared the truth constantly, until I was able to begin the study of our Lesson-Sermon.

It is with a sense of deep gratitude that I wish to tell of the benefits I have received through Christian Science. A year ago I had a severe attack of lung trouble, which grew worse from day to day, with rising temperature, and finally turned into a typical case of fever.

It is a heart filled with gratitude which leads me to acknowledge through the medium of the Journal the great blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. For fifteen years I was broken down in health, not knowing what it was to feel well for a single day.

Daily I am receiving manifestations of the power of divine Love, and I shall never cease to be thankful to God, also to our noble and self sacrificing Leader, for the many blessings I have received through the study of the Bible and Science and Health. In May, 1910, I had a severe attack of rheumatism.

The past six years, which have been the happiest of my life, have been spent in the atmosphere of Christian Science. It has done so much for me that this public acknowledgment of my indebtedness is but a mite in payment.

I have long desired to express my gratitude for the many benefits received in Christian Science and to mention the great joy brought to me in the thought that man is not the helpless victim of sin, disease, and death. Through its teachings I have been able to overcome many errors, and as I make one demonstration after another it ceases to seem, as from a material standpoint, supernatural.

I am greatly pleased that the opportunity is afforded me to give expression to my deep-felt gratitude and to testify to my having been healed of paralysis through Christian Science one year ago. On May 27, 1911, a serious spinal disease suddenly manifested itself, and a couple of days later the whole of the lower part of my body became paralyzed.
