Testimonies of Healing
During the summer of 1910 we took a vacation trip, and had been at the resort but a short time when our three-year-old daughter began to cough. Although I tried to meet the trouble in Science to the best of my knowledge, it increased perceptibly, and the child was pitied a great deal by the guests at the resort, the discord thus being made very real.
It is a little more than two years since I first took up the study of Christian Science. Mrs.
Although I am not a member of any Christian Science church, my heart is overflowing with thankfulness for what Christian Science has done for me, and so I offer my testimony with the expectation that it will be a help to some brother wandering in the wilderness. I was raised in New York city by a mother who was a strict orthodox Jewess, and who spared no expense in the education of her children, thereby giving me a thorough knowledge of Hebrew, which enabled me to read it fluently, although not comprehending the meaning of all I read.
I rejoice that I can testify to Christian Science healing, physically and spiritually. As I look back and recall my condition when Christian Science took me up, I am at a loss as to just what to tell about.
I feel it to be both my duty and my privilege to tell what Christian Science means to me. For many years I had known vaguely of its existence; I had met Scientists, and been interested in their accounts of wonderful healing, either their own or that of their friends.
Four years ago I was healed through one treatment in Christian Science of a very aggravated case of hay-fever. I had been subject to these attacks for eighteen years, rarely passing through August and September without untold suffering, but I have had no return of the trouble.
It is with a heart full of love and gratitude to God for Christian Science, and with the hope that it will help some one, that I send this testimony. I was healed of a chronic bowel disorder of seven years' standing, for which I had tried everything and had been under many doctors, my father being a physician.
It is a source of gratification to me to give my brief experience in Christian Science. On the first day of January, 1911, 1 attended a Christian Science service as an escort to a friend who was visiting my home, and had no thought of ever becoming interested; but I was so much impressed with the earnestness and unity of thought which prevailed, that I have been a constant attendant since that date, and also have read most of the authorized literature upon this great subject.
AFTER being for four years an adherent of Christian Science, I wish to give my grateful testimony. I embraced this faith, upon investigation of it, because I found in it healing from the perplexities of human experience.
For many years I was a great sufferer from what doctors pronounced a stomach trouble, ulcers on the liver, and gall-stones; in fact, I did not know what it was to have a well day. In January, 1909, not knowing what else to do, I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help, and when the lady came she told me that God did not make me sick, as I had supposed, because God is Love.
