Testimonies of Healing

I feel the time has come for me to acknowledge through our periodicals the healing power of Truth. Several years, filled with health and activity, have come and gone since I was lifted out of invalidism and what was well-nigh despair.

I am glad to say that Christian Science has done me much good. About eighteen months ago I was a wreck in more than one way, for I had come through a great sorrow, besides which my health and strength had failed me.

Eleven years ago I had the misfortune to injure my back severely while playing in my father's ice-house. An abscess formed, and I steadily grew worse until January, 1903, when I was taken to a hospital in St.

I would like to give expression to my gratitude for the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. During a period of thirty years, possibly more, I suffered with severe and painful cramps in the legs, which in the course of years so increased in severity as to become almost unbearable.

It has been my desire for several months to have others know what Christian Science has done for me. I had been a great sufferer from rheumatism for many years, it being considered hereditary in my family; I had, in fact, despaired of ever being well again.

It is without hesitation that I place on record, in plain and unvarnished language, the debt of gratitude I owe Christian Science. In First Church of Christ, Scientist, Johannesburg, I have often expressed the gratitude I owe Mrs.

Words cannot express the gratitude I owe to God for Christian Science, not alone for restoration of health but for happiness and that peace of mind which "passeth all understanding. " Until I found this great truth, I had never known what it was to be well.

Six years ago, while enjoying good health, I became acquainted with Christian Science, the immediate occasion being a friend's healing from a dangerous and acute disease. At that time I was given some literature on the subject which aroused my interest and led me to read and study assiduously, for I felt that this must be the truth.

I have been benefited much by reading the testimonies in both the Journal and Sentinel , and want others to know what the application of the teaching of Christian Science has done for me. In the fall of 1910 I became afflicted with stomach trouble to such a degree that I had to quit work, for the doctors treated me with no results.

During the summer of 1910 we took a vacation trip, and had been at the resort but a short time when our three-year-old daughter began to cough. Although I tried to meet the trouble in Science to the best of my knowledge, it increased perceptibly, and the child was pitied a great deal by the guests at the resort, the discord thus being made very real.
