Testimonies of Healing

The words from our text-book, the "unlabored motion of the divine energy in healing the sick" ( Science and Health, p. 445 ), sent my thought back over the years that the divine energy has been brought to bear upon the health of my loved ones and myself.

Previous to 1910 I had always had an abnormal growth on my right shoulder, at least it had been there to my certain knowledge for twenty years. It had never given me pain or discomfort, but I had many times thought of having it removed.

In May, 1910, while shopping, I was taken with an attack of heart trouble. I was immediately moved to a physician's office, and after being given attention was taken to my home.

I know it is time to add my testimony to those that have already been given and which have been such a help and encouragement to me. In 1905 I was advised to give Christian Science a trial for organic and functional disorders which would not yield to materia medica , in fact the appendix was in such a condition that an operation seemed the only means of relief.

I feel that I ought to tell what Christian Science has done for me. In one week's treatment I was cured of a bowel trouble of over fifteen years' standing.

It is with deep gratitude for the wonderful benefits received through Christian Science that I send my testimony. The change physically is truly wonderful, but I have not words in which to express my gratitude for the spiritual, this uplift into a new world, and for the truth that is sustaining me every day.

On the twenty-fifth of June, 1911, our baby girl refused all food and drink with the exception of water. The symptoms were severe chill and congestion, and as she seemed to be rapidly becoming worse, we telegraphed to Johannesburg, where lives our nearest Christian Science practitioner.

On returning from a well-known health resort in 1907, without having been healed, I one day exclaimed, "O how I wish that some great scientific person would discover a universal remedy for disease which would make everybody well!" Soon after this a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy came into my hands, and on the first page of that book were the words, "Desire is prayer.

I am sincerely grateful to be able to testify to the good that Christian Science has done for me. About three months ago my little boy's head and body became covered with an eruption, and the doctor said he was suffering from poisoning caused through undigested food.

My gratitude is great indeed for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. My heart overflows with thankfulness to God for the wonderful exaltation of thought that has been mine during the eleven years since Christian Science came into my life.
