It is with pleasure that I write this testimony to tell of a few of the blessings which have come to me through my understanding of Christian Science. For about four years before I took up its study I was under medical treatment nearly all the time; but it seemed that the longer I doctored the more I suffered. My ailments included catarrh, stomach trouble, imperfect circulation, etc. Following a varied experience with materia medica, I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and also took Christian Science treatment; but I cannot say that the treatment or the reading did me much good for some months. I however kept on reading the book, besides the other Christian Science literature, and also the Bible, and finally my ailments vanished into their native nothingness. This was about seven years ago, and since that time I have had in my family and in my own experience a great many demonstrations of the love, power, and presence of God, good, as revealed through Christian Science. I thank God for this blessed truth which Mrs. Eddy has brought to the world's attention and which is leading mankind out of darkness into the light of the knowledge of God, in whom there is no darkness or evil.
I always believed we had a God who would help us to overcome sickness as well as sin, if we only understood Him aright, and for several years, while I belonged to another church, I prayed earnestly that my suffering might, be overcome; but I was praying to a God who I thought had made sickness and sin and death. In the last two years I have had attacks of colds several times, but I thank God that through silent prayer, and the spiritual understanding of the Bible as taught in Science and Health, I have overcome them all. None of them lasted over a couple of hours, whereas I used to suffer from them for days. Since getting the understanding of the Bible as illumined by Science and Health, I have had a demonstration of healing by reading the 91st Psalm. I find there is nothing which helps us more than the study of the Scriptures as interpreted in Christian Science, especially when we put the truth into daily practise. This has brought health and happiness to me such as I never had before.
