Testimonies of Healing

For the benefit of those who think it impossible to be healed of disease by reading Christian Science, I wish to state my experience. It is almost eight years since my attention was first called to this subject, and then I made light of it.

With a heart full of gratitude, I desire to bear testimony to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. In September, 1907, I became quite ill, and during my sickness I was under the care of four good physicians, but they gave me no encouragement that I would ever get well.

Two and a half years ago our then ten-year-old boy fell and injured his knee while at play. A hard swelling formed, and we called a physician, who stated that the knee-joint was seriously affected.

Over four years ago I was an invalid, my back being so weak that I could not walk any distance, nor even sit up long at a time. I had gone through two surgical operations within eight months, by one of the best specialists in the state, but after the last operation I continued to grow worse.

My heart overflows with gratitude for the blessings which Christian Science daily brings to me. Five years ago I was helpless and hopeless, and in my extremity turned to this truth for relief.

For a number of years my wife had been suffering from a complication of diseases, and physicians had never been able to afford her more than temporary relief. By the advice of friends I decided to investigate Christian Science, in the hope of ('finding therein some relief for her ailments.

Six years ago I was in a condition of utter hopelessness, —health, happiness, everything that endears life to us, had been lost. I had been a sufferer from physical anguish, the symptoms of which, being quite unusual, deprived reputable and worthy medical men of the power to diagnose or name.

For fifteen years I was afflicted with stomach and bowel trouble, and in those fifteen years I tried every remedy I heard of, and every physician in my home town, besides several out of town; but all this did me no good. At last I heard of Christian Science, and I began to take treatment.

I had always been very delicate, and about ten years ago my health failed entirely. For five or six years I was practically helpless, owing to a weakness of the spine and a general breaking down of the nervous system.

It is my heart's desire to give an expression of the gratitude which fills me for all that Christian Science has done for me. In October, 1908, while in Braunschweig, I was taken ill with severe kidney trouble, which became most alarming.
