Testimonies of Healing

It is with a joyful heart that I wish to tell of how I found my way to Christian Science, and I trust that many another wanderer in the dark will find comfort and enlightenment through God's gracious help and ever-present love. From the time I was thirteen I suffered with headaches, which as I grew older became aggravated, so that I would be unable to do anything for days at a time.

I LEFT England for California over fifteen years ago. Even then, though only about twenty-one years old, I had a slight touch of the liquor habit, and this habit grew upon me rapidly, so much so that my people in England heard of the life I was leading.

I was a sufferer for thirty years from troubles which seemingly could not be cured, and complications from heart, nerves, and stomach, with frequent and severe headaches and rapidly failing eyesight, were always threatening me. I had been constantly under medical treatment, was a slave to the drug habit, and relying on some drug to induce sleep.

It is with a grateful heart that I testify to the great blessings which have come to me and which I am still experiencing through Christian Science. Since early childhood I had suffered severely with headaches and facial neuralgia, which appeared almost every week and often would last for several days, causing me great distress.

In Christian Science I have indeed found the "pearl of great price," and enjoy a peace which passes all understanding. It has been such a revelation to me that I gladly testify with a heart full of gratitude to its uplifting powers.

To say that I owe all that I hold dearest on earth to Christian Science, is in no way an exaggeration. Much has been done for me and my immediate family by a study of Christian Science, but the physical healings I count among the least of its blessings.

In January. 1908, I contracted a severe cold and had a cough accompanied by very alarming symptoms.

In March, 1904, while visiting relatives in San Francisco, I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I was wearing glasses and had worn them nearly two years, and when told that I need not use them any longer, I scoffed at the idea; but, seeing what benefit my brother's family had received through this blessed truth, I decided to give Christian Science a fair test, as I was very much dissatisfied with my old religious beliefs, which were of the Jewish faith.

Until I was about six years old I was a healthy, active child. Then I had an illness, and it was only after months of suffering that I recovered sufficiently to go about.

I feel that it is time for me to express my gratitude for the great blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. For more than fifteen years I suffered from periodical attacks of rheumatic trouble, also an internal disorder which caused me continual pain.
