Testimonies of Healing
In the dozen years I've been studying and practicing Christian Science, I have seen and experienced numerous healings as the result of prayer. Among them have been quick healings of colds, flu, headache, injuries resulting from an accident, measles, a skin growth, and an internal disorder resulting from an apparent tumor.
It is with immense gratitude for Christian Science that I share the following healings of a twenty-six-year addiction to cigarettes and of lifelong allergies. As a teenager I had started smoking cigarettes and was very soon smoking two to three packs a day.
Recently I overheard one of my brothers say to a friend: "My sister is a Christian Scientist. She hasn't had medication of any kind since she was nineteen years old—and I think she's healthier and happier than anyone in the family.
Some time ago I was talking with a neighbour, who asked me if I knew that there was a lump on my eyelid. I was quite surprised, as I hadn't known of it.
" Awake , awake, utter a song" ( Judg. 5:12 ).
My family first heard about Christian Science when the family doctor recommended my grandmother try it when he was unable to cure her. Through its healing ministrations she was returned to her family a well woman.
One of the blessings of the Science of Christ is the practical help it affords parents in the challenging task of raising children. By placing our son and two daughters under the protection of God's law, we witnessed many healings, including severe cuts, chronic earaches, a nearly severed tongue, and a drug overdose that appeared as if it might be fatal.
One of my sons, at the age of ten, had his pajamas catch on fire when standing too close to an open fireplace. I was able to put out the flames quickly, but my son was burned from the back of his knee to his heel.
" Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" ( Matt. 6:27 ) The Bible teaches us that all things are possible to God, when we gain the realization that it is the influence of the Christ within us that does the work.
At the time I was introduced to Christian Science, I was not looking for healing but for a clearer understanding of God. As I began my study, however, healings took place.
