Testimonies of Healing

I must first give thanks for Mary Baker Eddy, beloved Leader, Discoverer, and Founder of Christian Science. Never can I adequately acknowledge the good that has come to me and my family as a result of this dear woman's gift to the world.

We often accept our healings as a matter of fact but neglect or forget to give thanks for them. Thanks for the following healing is long overdue.

It has taken a few months for me to realize fully the magnitude of a healing I recently experienced that was both an immediate and a clearly visible proof of mental surgery. In the middle of the night I wakened feeling suddenly ill.

There is an old saying, "Be careful what you wish for because you might get it. " I am grateful to be getting what I've wanted, since as a lifelong student of Christian Science, my desire is to draw closer to God.

As a child I loved attending the Christian Science Sunday School. I remember many times I rode home pondering a new spiritual insight that had enlightened my thought.

Two summers ago Dad, my brother, and I went to Washington to see Dad's parents. When we got there, I asked Dad if I could go see my uncle who was working in the woods.

Teeming with ideas. How delightful! This concept of pregnant helped me see that instead of being a time-consuming, burdensome biological process, pregnancy expresses joyous spiritual development, demonstrating God as the only creator.

I was raised as a Christian Scientist, and saw some wonderful proofs of its reliability in dealing with all types of problems. For example, during a polio epidemic, my little sister, after playing with a child who came down with a diagnosed case of polio, became very ill with the same symptoms.

There was a period in my experience when I was chronically upset and ill. I had three teenage daughters whose behavior was causing me much distress.

Let me tell you what it is like to grow up in a family of practicing Christian Scientists who are devoted to recognizing God as omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent Life, Love, Mind, and to demonstrating daily that this recognition heals. I can't give you names of diseases of which I was healed, but I remember being completely protected as a child after falling out of moving cars twice; after accidentally setting my mask on fire at Halloween; and after landing hard on my seat while roller-skating.
