Testimonies of Healing
A number of years ago, when our daughter was a young child, frequent and painful urination was diagnosed as a symptom of a severe kidney disease. The treatment prescribed happened to be quite painful, and it took both my husband and me to get our daughter to the doctor's office.
About twenty years ago I had two healings of bone injuries during a period when I was traveling frequently as a management consultant for a national agency. I've had quick healings of physical difficulties since becoming a student of Christian Science almost fifty years ago, but these two injuries took longer to heal.
In 1953, when I was living in Kenya, I became very ill with malaria and then also contracted typhoid. After weeks of fever and loss of consciousness, I was not expected to survive.
Christian Science has been so helpful to me in all areas of my life. As a child, I was troubled with a skin condition called eczema.
My mother passed on when I was an infant, and my father also passed away when I was still at a tender age. Relatives took care of me, but things were rugged as I was growing up.
I am grateful to have been raised in Christian Science and to have attended Christian Science Sunday School. There I learned how our Father-Mother God heals, protects, supplies, restores, and saves.
One summer evening, I was retrieving a toy for one of our children under the deck in our backyard. It was quite dark under the deck, and as I knelt down to search for the toy, I placed both knees on a board that had several rusty nails poking through it.
A Bible phrase reads, "Bring an offering unto the Lord" (Leviticus). As I thought about this, I felt compelled to write this testimonial as my offering of gratitude for the healing power of Truth I've demonstrated through my study and practice of Christian Science.
From early childhood I never felt quite healthy. Also, I never got along well with my classmates or teachers at school because of an inferiority complex.
Quite a few years ago when I was a sophomore in college, an event happened that was very significant to me. A word that best describes my attitude toward Christian Science prior to college is uncommitted.
