Testimonies of Healing
For over forty years my wife and I lived in a large Edwardian house. Up until several years ago the accommodation was shared with friends and relatives.
I am very grateful that Christian Science has taught me I can turn to God in every need and know that my prayers will be answered. God is our Parent, friend, guide, and only physician.
My parents were brought up in a missionary school. Later, in their twenties, they became students of Christian Science, which they learned about through reading copies of the Christian Science Sentinel.
I will never cease to be grateful that I knew of Christian Science at a very young age. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a child and experienced many healings during those years.
I would like to share my very first experience of Christian Science healing. When I was a young mother with an infant son, I went to live with some relatives for a period of time.
Christian Science —this most precious gift— came into my life many years ago. It was introduced to my family by a visiting vacuum cleaner salesman.
During college I started suffering from painful headaches. I took strong painkillers, but often even these wouldn't work.
A few years ago I was exposed to large amounts of chlordane, a poison. A short time later, very strange and frightening symptoms appeared on my body; soon I was completely incapacitated.
" For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus).
Having attended a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, off and on for many years, I intended to join the Church—someday. But the question in my mind was always whether there would be enough time to fulfill all of the obligations of church membership.
