Testimonies of Healing

Having heard some of the attempts to discredit prayer in the case of young children, I would like to submit some personal experiences of effective reliance on prayer for the care of children. One morning, after a severe windstorm shattered a glass door, my young son cut his finger on the broken panels.

In the summer of 1987 a lot of renovation work was being done at my place of work, and whole departments were being moved about inside the building. All the employees had to put up with a lot of construction noise, dust, and extra work.

I was talking with a friend recently about the many obstacles that would keep us from writing for the Christian Science periodicals and sharing the healing experiences we have had through prayer. After this conversation I immediately began to write the following testimony, knowing it is through healings that we see Truth demonstrated! There are several healing experiences that were turning points for me as a student of Christian Science.

I was raised in a Christian Scientist family, but Christian Science first became my own choice of the way I wanted to live when I was a teenager. Later, as an adult with a family of my own, I relied on Christian Science exclusively for healing for myself and our two daughters.

Some years ago when my wife and I were expecting our first child, my wife was, according to medical opinion, in a higher-risk group because of her age. But as we prayed before the birth, we never doubted that God was, is, and always will be the only Father-Mother, the one creator.

I am so grateful for the wonderful opportunities my husband and I have had to serve the Christian Science movement actively for the past twenty-five years. In 1965 a major newspaper article about Christian Science caused us to want to be personally involved in the work of the Church.

How very grateful I am that my mother relied on Christian Science treatment for me after scarlet fever had been diagnosed by a doctor from the health department. I recall the surprise of the doctor, who, after examining me again the following morning, told my mother I was completely healed.

Because I have received so much inspiration and comfort over the years from the articles and testimonies appearing in the Christian Science periodicals, I wish to express my gratitude by sharing the following healings. One day I was studying some passages in Science and Health by Mrs.

Having attended a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, off and on for many years, I intended to join the Church—someday. But the question in my mind was always whether there would be enough time to fulfill all of the obligations of church membership.

My life has been made so much fuller, freer, healthier, and happier through the study of Christian Science. When I was nearing the end of my years at an English boarding school, I damaged a knee while playing cricket.
