Testimonies of Healing
In 1965 I had hepatitis and spent three months in a hospital. I was released with the instruction to keep to a strict diet and not to tax myself too much.
Nine years ago I had trouble with my bladder. I went to three doctors, but the medicines didn't help and the pains were terrible.
I was eight years old when my mother was told about the Church of Christ, Scientist, and the Christian Science Sunday School. She decided that my sister and I should attend Sunday School.
With a heart full of gratitude I am sharing my testimony with you. Although I knew almost nothing of Christian Science, it saved me at a very critical moment during a period of illness.
My parents came into Christian Science during the early twenties after my father had been told by several doctors that he would never walk again. With prayerful treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, he had a quick and permanent healing.
As a young teenager, I found that study of the weekly Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School were essential to me in establishing a strong spiritual foundation. I was raised in a Christian Scientist family, but Christian Science first became my own choice of the way I wanted to live when I was a teenager. Later, as an adult with a family of my own, I relied on Christian Science exclusively for healing for myself and our two daughters.
My most precious gifts have been the love of God and the awareness of Him that my parents first nurtured in me and that my study of Christian Science has more fully unfolded. I began to study Christian Science as a young woman.
Two years ago I suddenly developed considerable pain in my abdomen. I had been raised in Christian Science and had found it helpful throughout my life, but I was not at that time a practicing Christian Scientist.
I'd like to tell you of a couple of experiences in my daily life as an airline stewardess. Refusing to accept human prediction and turning to God instead have brought protection, freedom, and healing.
