Testimonies of Healing
For many years our family struggled hopelessly with various physical problems. The inconsistencies we encountered in medical theories had shaken our faith in medicine, but we had nothing to take its place; so it continued to govern much of our lives.
Many years ago Christian Science was offered to me in a time of extreme need. I started reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
I learned of Christian Science while I was in college, although I did not take up its study at first. During the spring term of my junior year, I developed stomach pains.
[Original in German] I had my first healing in Christian Science more than fifty years ago. Through the prayer of a practitioner, within a few days I was completely healed of an ugly skin disease that had not yielded to medical treatment.
While I was studying in England I was instantaneously healed of a bad cold and a painful wrist by the prayer of a Christian Scientist. I bought a copy of science and Health by Mrs.
My parents took up the study of Christian Science at my birth, and I went to the Christian Science Sunday School until the age of twelve. At that time we moved to the country, where church attendance was difficult, and my parents drifted away from this teaching.
Our communities, as well as our lives, are truly held in God's gentle, protective care. Recently I had an opportunity to witness God's control of my life.
Twenty-six years ago I was heavily burdened with a difficult family situation and financial problems. I was also physically run-down and suffering with stomach ulcers.
My husband and I had a wonderful introduction to Science when the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner healed our child. We were told by medical authorities that the boy would have to undergo tests for the breathing difficulty he was already receiving medication for.
Two years ago, a month before I was to become head librarian of our Christian Science Reading Room, I became very ill. There was severe pain in the lower part of my back and stomach.
