Testimonies of Healing

When I was a child, my mother began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

Mrs. Eddy states on page 548 of Science and Health, "Earth has little light or joy for mortals before Life is spiritually learned.

About eleven years ago, when I began my study of Christian Science, the hostility of those around me toward it made it impossible for me to sing hymns, at least out loud, and this made me unhappy, for I felt I greatly needed to. Later, thanks to God, understanding having entered my home, Christian Science had its rightful place there, and I was able to sing at the top of my voice; this brought me great happiness.

I have cause to be grateful for Christian Science. I learned the fundamentals of this religion by attending its Sunday School throughout my grade and high school years.

Christian Science was presented to me nineteen years ago. At that time I was under an emotional strain.

" Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 162 ).

At the age of three weeks my daughter showed signs of a back defect. Upon having the child examined by physicians I was told that her back was imperfectly formed and that there were no nerves at all.

Mrs. Eddy gave mankind a priceless gift through her discovery of Christian Science, and I have had the privilege of knowing something of this truth since early childhood.

Christian Science came into my life at a time when all the material joys and aids that I had been looking to for happiness and security had failed me, and I was learning that "trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff,—a broken reed, which pierces the heart" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p.

In my grammar school days I suffered from fainting spells, the cause of which the doctors could not alleviate or cure. My parents had heard of Christian Science and decided to turn to it for help in this need.
