Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science was first introduced to me by a dear friend of mine who is also my singing teacher. I had for some time been suffering from constant colds and severe catarrh which often prevented me from attending auditions and necessitated my being absent from shows in which I was appearing.

While on a winter skiing trip, high in the mountains on a ski trail, my husband twisted his knee to such a degree that he could not stand on that leg at all. He was brought down from the mountain in a snow tractor and told he should have the leg X-rayed immediately for broken bones since it was badly swollen.

The study and application of Christian Science these past thirty years and more have brought so much happiness and so many blessings into my life that I feel impelled to write a testimony in gratitude for this new-old religion, which I so love. I began the study of Christian Science to gain a better understanding of God.

Although brought up in a Christian Science home, it was many years before I came to see the futility of dependence on material means for fulfilling one's normal desires and ambitions and finding a harmonious way of life. Failing to find satisfaction in an earlier marriage, in employment, or in religious experience, I was eventually led back to the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

My parents took up the study of Christian Science during my infancy, and so I attended the Christian Science Sunday School. Before leaving Sunday School I became a member of The Mother Church and six months later joined a branch church.

Christian Science was first brought to my mother's attention by a neighbor over fifty-five years ago. My mother thought it a beautiful religion.

For many years I lived and worked in Central Africa, often in remote areas, and during that time I became increasingly aware of the practicality of Christian Science as a religion and the way of Life. Without the support of the Bible, Mrs.

The blessings that have been mine since I became a Christian Scientist would fill a book. I did not become interested in Science because I was seeking a healing but because I was deeply impressed by the life of love exemplified by a close relative, a Scientist, and I knew that if I too could express such love and assurance I would be living my life in the way I wished to live it.

My husband and I were both brought up in the Christian Science Sunday School, and we are now very thankful that our four children are enjoying this same opportunity. We have experienced many demonstrations of the blessings of Christian Science in all aspects of our family life.

Christian Science came into my life over thirty years ago when, as a young wife and the mother of two children, I was suffering from a supposedly incurable kidney disease. I knew nothing about Christian Science but sought help continuously through prayer.
