Testimonies of Healing

I was born and reared in Christian Science and attended Sunday School until I reached the age of twenty. However, it was not until several years after finishing Sunday School that I really appreciated and fully realized just how much Science meant to me.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel to God for the goodness and grace and the supply of right ideas that have been manifested to me through Christian Science. I am grateful for all the guidance and divine protection, but, above all, for the illuminating fact that God did not give us a sinful character but created the true man in His image and likeness.

Struggling to throw off a feeling of despair over my poor prospects for a happy and worthwhile life, I was walking along a street in a little town one Wednesday evening in the summer of 1941. This street led me to a church, the door of which was open and in which some people were singing.

A positive and correct statement of Christian Science when prayerfully made, even though not fully understood, often brings healing. I have had wonderful proof of this.

Christian Science became a practical religion to me while I was a teen-ager, for I learned then that it offers the answer to all human problems. One afternoon while working with a group of girls to clear a large gymnasium of heavy, wooden, folding chairs, I caught my fingers in the collapsible section of a chair.

I am deeply grateful to the friends who introduced me to Christian Science about nine years ago. I have indeed found it to be the Comforter that Jesus promised (see John 14:16).

Christian Science was introduced to me at a time of great emotional distress. I was teaching school and felt sure that I was failing my children, my husband, and the children I was attempting to teach.

Several years ago I took a trip to the Middle West to attend my brother's wedding and had a very wonderful proof of God's care while I was there. Just one week prior to the wedding a group of us were invited to a dinner party in a neighboring town.

My ceaseless gratitude for the blessings I have enjoyed through my study and application of Christian Science prompts me to contribute this message of thankfulness. I have experienced varied physical healings through the years.

For approximately thirty-two years I have been a student of Christian Science. During this time there have been many opportunities to apply the truths taught by this religion, which is the way of Life.
