Testimonies of Healing

While on a winter skiing trip, high in...

From the June 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While on a winter skiing trip, high in the mountains on a ski trail, my husband twisted his knee to such a degree that he could not stand on that leg at all. He was brought down from the mountain in a snow tractor and told he should have the leg X-rayed immediately for broken bones since it was badly swollen.

As I mentally turned away from the ugly picture confronting me and sought to reaffirm man's status as a perfect, complete child of God, unfallen, these and other truths of the real man which are found on page 475 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy flooded my consciousness: "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God."

"The scientific statement of being" found on page 468 of Science and Health was also helpful in confirming that an accident could never have taken place, for, as the statement assures us, "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." Man, being spiritual, is not subject to the laws of matter.
