Testimonies of Healing

I had been a sickly child and had come close to death several times. However, I had a great love for God, whom I imagined to be someone way off in heaven.

It is with a grateful heart that I acknowledge the goodness and ever-presence of God. A number of years ago, I was afraid of many things—of losing my mind, of doing something I should not do, of being alone.

For many years Christian Science has met all my needs and those of my family. Because of the blessings I have received as a result of an absolute reliance upon God, I know the importance of being alert to recognize erroneous thinking and to replace quickly with declarations of the truth of God's allness the suggestion of another power.

I have many reasons to be grateful for Christian Science, but the healing which has given me the most joy and cause for gratitude is the overcoming of intense fear suffered when alone in the dark. I had been nervous in the dark for many years.

Over the forty years during which I have been studying Christian Science I have had definite proof that the law of God is always in operation. In the degree that I have confidently placed myself and my affairs under His law, my problems have been solved harmoniously.

When I was a child, I attended a Christian Science Sunday School, and I am grateful that the teaching was so firm that a later investigation of other systems and intellectual curiosity about many things never quite replaced the knowledge that the only true system of healing is Science and that some day I must return to it, and I did. A short time after there had been a series of readjustments in my experience and I had begun to give piano lessons, I realized one day, during an early morning lesson, that my left side and arm were almost completely paralyzed.

I have been acquainted with Christian Science for many years, and I have had many proofs of the absolute truth of its teachings. For example, during my first winter as a prisoner during the Second World War, I suffered from sinusitis.

A previous testimony of mine appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel in 1955 and related a healing which occurred overnight. This testimony is written in the hope that it may encourage someone who is seeking the healing of a long-standing difficulty.

When I was a young girl living at home with my parents, my mother was very sick. The doctor said he did not think she would live until morning.

Christian Science has changed my whole way of life. I turned to it when I was in my last year of training as a medical nurse.
