Several years ago a testimony telling of my gratitude for Christian Science was printed in the Christian Science Sentinel. Since that time the continuing unfoldment of good and the many proofs of God's protection and love which I have experienced inspire me to express again that thankfulness which is in my heart.
I have had the rich experience of working in another country with a group of Christian Scientists meeting informally to hold services. I have seen the proof of God's love in caring for His own in the many demonstrations of supply, healing, and protection made by this little group when conditions were adverse. I have experienced many healings and also found peace and strength through the study and application of the truths of Christian Science. Two healings are outstanding to me, for I learned much from them.
While living in Honolulu, I found myself experiencing great pain and stiffness in my knees. I was studying dancing at the time and found it almost impossible to bend my knees or even walk freely. I went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and soon I was free from the pain. Then, since my husband was a Navy man, we were transferred to Italy. There I found a prevalent fear of arthritis and rheumatism, and advice about protecting oneself from them was given by those around me. I did no specific work in Science about this situation, being sure that I knew better than to accept the general belief. Soon, however, I was feeling a slight stiffness in my feet and knees, and in spite of earnest study and prayer, the pain and stiffness became more severe.
