Testimonies of Healing

Shortly after my parents became interested in Christian Science, I was advised by the school authorities that a spot which was on one of my feet and which had been extremely painful for many months was believed to be cancerous and required medical attention. However, several days later when I was called into the office of one of my teachers and asked what I was doing about the condition, I felt impelled to tell her that my parents were new students of Christian Science and that I was going to rely upon it for healing.

Christian Science was presented to me by two neighbors when our first child was a baby. At that time the baby had a severe illness which resulted in mastoid trouble in one ear.

About four years ago, before Christian Science was presented to me, there was extreme inharmony in certain of my family relationships. I was in bondage to tobacco, alcohol, and barbiturates, and I was often in despair.

About twenty years ago I was taken ill with pneumonia and pleurisy. At the same time a heart ailment from which I had suffered earlier became so aggravated that the doctor gave his opinion that I had not long to live.

I was introduced to Christian Science towards the end of the First World War. Brought up in an orthodox church, I frequently visited a large and beautiful church during the war to pray for the safety of relatives and others who were on active service.

When my husband passed on, Christian Science was indeed the Comforter to me. Through the understanding that I gained of God's love for His children and of the fact that He provides all good for each one of them and is the only Mind, I have been led to make necessary adjustments harmoniously, proving that "each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love" ( Science and Health by Mrs.

I am deeply grateful to God for the blessings which the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science have brought into my experience and into that of other members of my family. While my husband and I were overseas visiting our daughter, whom we had not seen for five years, I noticed a lump the size of an egg toward the middle part of her head, but we did not discuss it.

It is with a sincere desire to acknowledge the power of our Father-Mother God that I bear witness not only to some of the healings but to the regeneration which Christian Science has brought to me. I have tested its healing efficacy in many types of human experience, and a complete healing or a reformation of thought has always resulted from my seeking a better understanding of God and man's relationship to Him.

Many years ago I began to attend a Christian Science church, not through any desire of my own, but merely to accompany my mother, who had been beautifully healed by spiritual means of an intestinal obstruction for which she had been about to undergo surgery. I myself, in spite of my mother's quick and permanent healing, did not immediately accept Science; in fact, there was, unaccountably, considerable antagonism toward it in my thought.

One day at work I was stricken with severe abdominal pain. I tried to overcome it through my own prayer but was not successful right away; so I managed to telephone a Christian Science practitioner to ask for help.
