Testimonies of Healing
For many generations on my father's side our family had been plagued with hereditary recurrent nauseous headaches. At least one in each generation had had these headaches as far back as anyone could remember; and by the time my two brothers and I came along, the fear of the symptoms made their appearance in one of us almost inevitable.
My gratitude for Christian Science is unceasing. In every way for over twenty years it has been the physician in our family.
Christian Science came into my family's experience when I was an infant. My mother was healed through it of a stomach ailment after the physician had said that in his opinion she had only three months to live.
I should like to express my gratitude for the many blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. I did not come to it for a physical healing, but I had been searching for many months for a reason for things and had done a great deal of reading.
Christian Science came to me as a direct answer to prayer at a time when I was very much in need of knowing God aright. My marriage did not bring the happiness which I had expected; rather it brought a great disillusionment.
My introduction to Christian Science came through a woman who was rooming in our home when I was in high school. Seeing me with a sprained ankle, she recommended having Christian Science treatment for it.
Christian Science was introduced to me during my period of service with the Royal Air Force. Religiously inclined, I had investigated without finding satisfaction various Christian denominations and also spiritualism, but Christian Science instantly appealed to me.
I have had many healings through the "prayer of faith," which, we read, "shall save the sick" ( James 5: 15 ). I am thankful for a number of quick healings; but for the one which took many weeks to accomplish, I am perhaps most grateful.
Since I first attended a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting many blessings have come to me and to my family through the study and application of Science. My attendance at this meeting was itself an outstanding experience, for when I left home I did not know where I was going or what I was looking for.
Gratitude for blessings received through the ministrations of Christian Science for more than seventy years prompts me to submit this testimony. During the Second World War, I was employed by the American Red Cross and spent thirty months on various islands of the Pacific.
