Testimonies of Healing

HAVING received so much benefit from the many testimonies given in our Christian Science periodicals, as well as those given at the Wednesday meetings, during the last fifteen or sixteen years, I realize it is time to express my gratitude. I do not know how we should get along without Christian Science.

FOR a number of years after taking up the study of Christian Science I had trouble with my back. At times I could not walk without the support of a chair or the aid of members of my family.

AS long ago as I can remember I tried to find some connection between what I believed to be religion and the teaching and healing work of Christ Jesus. I could perceive none, and finally came to the conclusion that his meaning was misunderstood.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE came to me when I was in need of healing both physically and mentally. I was suffering from a complete nervous breakdown, and was so weak that even moving about exhausted me; bodily functions also were not normal.

As an expression of gratitude for many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science, I am sending this testimony. One of my first healings in Christian Science was that of defective eyesight.

[Original testimony in German] FIVE years ago I suffered during the entire winter with a disease of the legs. The knees and ankles had turned very red and were badly swollen.

For twelve years my health had not been good, and at last, when all the medicine that I had constantly been taking ceased to help me, I was obliged to go to a hospital. The physicians made several examinations and X-rayed me.

Through studying and applying the teachings of Christian Science I have been healed of many discordant conditions, including chronic constipation, susceptibility to colds, weakened arches, and a seeming lack of energy and endurance. Many undesirable traits of character have also been overcome.

The Bible was very dear to me from early childhood, and I had always taken an active part in the orthodox church activities, but very often I wondered why I should be burdened with physical ailments when I was serving God to the best of my knowledge. When I was quite a young girl I had what the doctor called a ruptured intestine, causing congestion of food which would not pass off without my constantly taking some strong medicine.

It has been seventeen years since I was healed by Christian Science of tuberculosis and hemorrhages of the lungs. My turning to this Science for help was inspired by a loving aunt who, by much patience and compassion, persuaded my parents to send me to a practitioner.
