Testimonies of Healing
Several years ago I bought a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and endeavored to study it. I was in good health at the time, and did not become interested in its teachings, as they were not understood by me; so the book was set aside.
In 1898 the best doctors in Lausanne advised me to go through an operation. This I did, but with no good result; for a short time afterwards I suffered as much as before.
I wish to add my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me and mine, to the many others which have come from equally grateful hearts. The many healings I have experienced would form a long list; therefore I shall mention but a few.
At the time I came to Christian Science for physical healing I was in an exceedingly nervous and despondent condition as the result of my seeming inability to obtain permanent healing. Until the truth as taught in Christian Science began to free me from my false beliefs, I had seemed to be always in bondage to some form of physical ill.
About six years ago I was healed of neuritis in my upper arm. For several days the suffering seemed very real.
Five years ago I was invited to attend a lecture on Christian Science to be given in a near-by city. I went to this city on the date specified, but did not think that I would go to the lecture.
In early childhood I was pronounced a sickly child by our family physician, who lovingly did all he could for me. A relapse after measles was believed to cause hemorrhages of the lungs.
In sincere gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me and mine I am sending this testimony, in the hope that it may help others. A little over ten years ago I was pronounced incurable by many physicians.
For five years I suffered from lung trouble, which at the end of this time was called tuberculosis. The medicine I had taken, a water-cure, sun baths, and my sojourn in a sanitarium had been of no avail.
It is with a heart full of gratitude to our dear Leader that I write this testimony. I first learned of Christian Science more than ten years ago, through a very dear friend who lent me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
