Testimonies of Healing
It is now twelve years since we started to study Christian Science, and we have found it a wonderful help in trouble. I cannot tell of all the wonderful healings we have had in our family, as it would require a book to contain them ; but I will tell of one healing, in the hope that it will help someone else, and to show that distance does not hinder the good work.
In November, 1924, I received an injury to my spine which was diagnosed by a physician as a dislocated and fractured vertebra, and which caused me to have an operation for the removal of the broken vertebra. This affected the rest of my body, and I suffered considerably.
I should like to express my deep gratitude for the many healings that have come into my life since the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given me, for I was then a very delicate person.
Some years ago I was very seriously ill with what the doctors termed Bright's disease. After traveling to a number of watering places for relief, I finally returned home no better, and was persuaded to try Christian Science.
"The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. " These words were proved to me to be true when my eight-year-old son was healed of appendicitis.
I first became interested in Christian Science during the summer of 1914. Out of courtesy to a friend who was visiting us I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting.
About three years ago I had a beautiful demonstration in Christian Science. I was one of a house party of friends at a little resort on the California coast.
With a heart grateful to the almighty Father I testify to the divine healing power. While cleaning my house I sustained an injury to my left hand.
I wish to add my song of gratitude to that of unnumbered thousands for the many blessings of Christian Science. I became interested in its study in the fall of 1918, when my mother was healed of Spanish influenza after being given up by doctors.
For the past twenty years I have resided in a small town in a western state; and the later years have been spent among people, serving in various ways. I seemed compelled to turn to such lowly service, as my husband was incapacitated through ill health and could not provide adequate support for us all.
