Testimonies of Healing

Several years have passed since dear friends called my attention to Christian Science, which heals not only sickness but also deep sorrow. I attended a Christian Science church and found great satisfaction in its teaching, so that I had the desire to learn more of the spiritual import of the Bible, as revealed through Christian Science.

Several years ago I wrote a testimony of my first healing, which was published in the Christian Science Sentinel , and it is only recently that the thought has come to me that we owe it to the Cause to bear witness more than once through the pages of our periodicals, just as truly as it is our duty and privilege to give our testimonies in our Wednesday evening meetings. It is over twenty years since I was healed of a so-called incurable disease through the reading of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Before taking up the study of Christian Science I had been suffering for several years from mental depression caused by operations on the head. I would spend hours planning suicide.

I am indeed grateful for the many blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. About twenty-five years ago my wife met a lady on a train, a Christian Scientist, who lovingly offered her the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," to read on her journey.

When a youth of fifteen years I became afflicted with tuberculous periostitis, a disease of the covering membrane of the bone. After undergoing medical treatment for two years, which were spent mostly on my back in an iron splint extending the full length of my body, I was, at the end of that period, told I could use my leg again.

It has been over twenty-four years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I had been under the care of a physician for nine years.

Christian Science has been my only physician for many years, and I have received many healings and many blessings through its application. Last summer I had a healing which I am so very grateful for that I wish to pass it on, thinking it may be of help to others.

It is my sincere desire to express gratitude and humility through giving this testimony of healing which our son experienced, that others may be encouraged and uplifted. Both my husband and I are sincerely grateful for the loving help of a friend who worked for us for three days, when we were unable to overcome the error.

In loving gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy, and with the desire to help others, I bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. From childhood I had been a semi-invalid, suffering constantly from pain and weakness and exhaustion.

It is with the desire to be grateful that I am giving this testimony to the power of Truth. It would be impossible for me to count the blessings I have received in Christian Science, and am receiving through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon and the other writings which our Leader has provided for us.
