Testimonies of Healing

When we decided to investigate Christian Science, in August, 1914, we first attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting and enjoyed it; then we attended the following Sunday morning service and enjoyed that. The following Tuesday I went to the Christian Science Reading Room, bought a Christian Science Quarterly, borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and then went out to a second-hand store and bought a Bible with large, clear print, for fifteen cents.

I, like many others, wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which have come to me and to my family through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I wish to mention a few healings we have received.

It is indeed impossible to find words adequate to express my sincere gratitude for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science. My earnest desire and prayer from childhood to know where I might find God, led me to Christian Science, through which the truth has been revealed.

Early in 1917, I became suddenly ill. The doctor who attended me informed me that I was suffering from valvular heart trouble.

That Christian Science is the teaching of our Lord and Master has been proved to me numberless times. I was in bondage to a disease inherited through three generations.

For about five years I had known and been interested in Christian Science. I read it and loved it, but did not take a positive stand for Truth.

I am very grateful to God and to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower; also to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for giving to the world a religion that is practicable. I am also grateful for our church services, and for the authorized Christian Science periodicals, which are the silent missionaries traveling to all parts of the world, helping our brothers and sisters to worship the same ever present God that we have learned to love and adore.

I should like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the many benefits I have received since becoming interested in Christian Science. My first healing, which was from constipation, occurred about five years ago.

I grew up in an atmosphere in which love and mutual understanding and confidence were unknown. The more I became aware of this, the more I suffered, and the more I longed for something better than what the world had to offer.

Christian Science was first presented to me nearly twenty-three years ago by a dear friend as a source of comfort in a great sorrow. Through the reading of some Sentinels, which I eagerly devoured, my thought was so helped that I desired to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
