Testimonies of Healing
The testimonies of others have been of so much help to me that I wish to add mine, hoping some other seeker after Truth may be encouraged as I have been. About six years ago life seemed hopeless.
I desire to give my testimony in order that God may be glorified, that those seeking Christian Science may be strengthened, and that I may express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered the divine law of being and founded a church, in the midst of "a wicked and perverse generation," to shelter and protect those who are striving to walk in the footsteps of the Master, Christ Jesus. For many years I seldom knew a day without pain.
With sincere gratitude I send this acknowledgment of the benefits received from Christian Science. About sixteen years ago I was lent a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I commenced reading merely to satisfy my curiosity as to its teaching.
It is with gratitude I send my testimony in the hope that it may encourage any one whose healing may be slow. About the year 1903 I became ill and an inmate of a hospital, where I underwent an operation for what was diagnosed as abscess of the loin; later on, an operation was performed at home for a diseased rib.
It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I am sending in my testimony that it may help others as others have helped me. Two years ago I took up the study of Christian Science, not because I cared so much for it, as I had heard about it since I was a little girl, and never thought there was any good in it; but I also had been sick since a little girl,—never strong like other children,—and after I grew up was never strong or well, and was growing worse all the time.
When Christian Science was first brought to my attention, I was nursing in a sanitarium in Oklahoma, U. S.
" And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee. " It is nearly four years since I definitely gave up all material remedies, and have never once thought of going back to them.
I wish to express my gratitude for the many healings we have had in our home. In 1912 I was seriously ill with what was termed congestion of the lungs, but with the aid of a faithful practitioner and a few friends was soon able to be about my household duties, and in a few months was strong and well.
I feel it is my duty to send my testimony in. It will be three years the first of August since I was healed.
I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science. I became interested through a friend who invited me to a Wednesday evening meeting.
