Testimonies of Healing
About ten years ago I began to read our text book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
During nearly fourteen years my life has been governed by Christian Science as taught by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
I am writing this testimony with a sense of great joy and gratitude, and also with the feeling that it is my duty to tell of the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science. For many years I suffered from headaches and never felt entirely well.
Mrs. Eddy says, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings" ( Science and Health, Pref.
I wish to relate briefly what God, through Christian Science, has done for me. Up to two years ago, when I appealed to Christian Science, I had been troubled for about eight years with sleeplessness, stomach and liver troubles, also nervousness.
I would like to tell something of what Christian Science has accomplished in our family. After suffering for three years, and during that time trying a number of physicians, including specialists, my husband as a last resort turned to Christian Science and was healed of a very distressing nervous disease, which seemed to affect the stomach and heart, in fact the entire body.
Early in January, 1912, while we were finishing our new home, I was taken with severe cramps in my stomach, so called painters' colic, and intense inward fever accompanied by chills. After rising one morning, feeling ill, I made an attempt at getting breakfast.
About six years ago, while I was visiting at my uncle's home in Marshall, Mo. , he fell and hurt his hip so badly that he was under the care of different physicians almost all of the time for nearly six months.
ABOUT six years ago I fell and so injured my right hip that I could not get up. Kind friends lifted me and placed me in a conveyance, from which I was carried into my home.
I, for one, have had no trouble to reconcile my Hebrew belief with Christian Science, once having divested myself of the prejudice the Jew has had against Christianity, a prejudice which, I am sorry to say, has been mainly fed by the treatment that many professed Christians accord to Jews. Can the Jew be blamed for not having readily accepted the teachings of Christ Jesus when the majority of Christian people deny that they can be followed today, and therefore look askance at Christian Science? I will not, however, quarrel with my Christian brethren, and neither will I allow my Hebrew brethren to bias me with respect to my religion;no one shall come between me and God.
