Testimonies of Healing
In 1904 my mother and I planned to spend the summer with my brother, who was living in South Dakota. During the year I had been very busy with one of the branches of my profession, that of trained nurse, and felt I needed the summer's rest.
I feel it is my duty to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the good which has come to us in Christian Science. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude to God, and to our Leader, Mrs.
I was led to Christian Science through a lady with whom I was acquainted, and heard of this wonderful truth for the first time in a Wednesday evening meeting. I took great interest in it and asked a kind neighbor a few questions.
Believing it a duty which I owe to God because of His infinite goodness extended to me in a time of great need, I send this testimonial, with the prayer that it may reach many who are seeking a Saviour as was I. but who are groping in darkness for the truth that makes men free.
TO those who are halting between two opinions as to the efficacy of spiritual or material remedies for trouble, let me earnestly recommend the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," wherein they will find the adequate and simple solution of every life-problem,—mental, moral or physical. By way of expressing my gratitude for priceless benefits received through Christian Science, I give the following account of my healing.
A little more than three years ago Christian Science was brought into our home through physical necessity. My wife, who was a delicate woman, was troubled with an abnormal growth as well as hernia.
I was healed through Christian Science in September 1908. It was one year since I had first known personally any Christian Science people, and those I had come in contact with made me wish that I could always associate with them.
Sincere gratitude impels me to acknowledge, at least in some measure, the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. In February, two years ago, Christian Science found me in a pitiful condition.
I feel that I should no longer delay in giving my testimony, and so in a measure express my gratitude to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has through her explanation of the Bible enabled me to realize that God is an ever-present help.
About three years ago my daughter, sixteen years of age, was taken suddenly ill, and as I had always been able to overcome any previous indispositions, I treated her and expected she would be better. Instead, she grew rapidly worse, so I called in a practitioner.
