Testimonies of Healing

Thirteen years ago I turned to Christian Science for help as a last resort. For ten years I had suffered with chronic and acute diseases.

A grateful acknowledgment of what the truth has done for us, should be as natural to us as the song is to the bird when the first warm rain gives promise of opening spring. And yet, so loath is mortal mind to yield to the government of the Divine, that I have found myself making all manner of excuses for withholding this testimony of the ever-presence of infinite good.

With hearts full of love to God, to our Master, and to our Leader, we send the following testimony of the healing of diphtheria in its most malignant form, believing it will give courage and hope to others when the dark shadows of sense seem to overwhelm, and material evidence appears strong. A year ago last December, just four days after the Reed trial here in Los Angeles, our oldest child, a boy of nine years, went to school in the morning as well as ever, but on returning home in the afternoon he felt so badly that he lay down by the way, and was found by a man who knew the child, and brought home by him in his buggy.

Hoping that my testimony may help others, as others have helped me, I joyfully send it to the Field. When I think of what my life was without Christian Science it seems like a sort of dreamy existence, in an old and now almost forgotten world, and that I never really lived until I was born into the understanding of Christian Science.

Having been so thoroughly healed through Christian Science, I feel it would not only be ungrateful, but that I should not be doing my duty to God to keep silent any longer. On the 24th of March, 1902, I was working on the new station, South Eastern & Chatham Railway, Bexhill, glazing the covered platform, when I suddenly slipped and fell onto the concrete platform below, injuring my spine.

Words fail to express my thankfulness for God's goodness and wisdom in sending Christ Jesus to show us the way, and to Mrs. Eddy, who has so fully revealed the truth contained in the Bible.

All my life I had suffered with nervous headaches, and for five years I had a stomach trouble, and was never well. Most of the time I suffered intense pain, and every organ in my body seemed deranged in some way.

Two years ago I was suffering with bronchial tuberculosis, when Christian Science was brought to my notice by my physician. I had been confined to my bed most of the time for seven months, and, being a trained nurse, I knew there was nothing known to the medical profession that would benefit me.

I feel it a privilege to tell what Christian Science has done and is doing for me each day. I first became interested through physical healing, and then came a desire to know how this healing was accomplished.

I wish to let my friends know why I think well of Christian Science. About six years ago.
