Testimonies of Healing
My first healing as a Christian Scientist occurred while my application for membership in The Mother Church was in progress; I was also becoming a member of a branch church for the first time. I had struggled to break the tobacco habit.
Recently a practitioner asked me, "Have you submitted a testimony for the periodicals?" That alerted me to a responsibility in this regard, and I thought I would share a healing I had some time ago. At the time, my mother was living on the West Coast, and I on the East Coast.
Among my earliest memories are visits to a Christian Science Sunday School, where I learned that God is everywhere and that He is Love. I learned that man was created in God's image and likeness; and that evil, or devil, is unreal because unlike God, the only creator.
I thank God for having had Christian Science all my life. My mother was one of the first practitioners in West Texas.
I was in my thirties when I found Christian Science, and at that time had been smoking for twenty-six years. As my love and appreciation for Christian Science grew, I wanted very much to become a church member.
I have received a great deal of inspiration from reading the healings in the Christian Science magazines, and it is with great joy that I share several of my own. When our eldest son was four, he became quite ill, along with many of the other children in his day-care center.
I am Robert's wife. I had been raised in a devout Christian home, and study of the Bible had taught me to love God.
When one day I started having difficulty breathing, I allowed myself to become very fearful about it. The condition continued to worsen.
When I was in second grade I had a wart on the bottom of my foot. At first it didn't bother me, but soon it started to hurt.
In January 1992 I began to feel pain in one shoulder, and before long most of my body was very stiff and painful; movement was difficult, sometimes impossible. My sister, a Christian Scientist, had been healed of what a medical specialist had diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis.
