Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science was in my mother's family, and I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to a dear one on many occasions. I did not realize I needed this truth until years later when one of the South's most prominent doctors, having failed to restore my health, asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science.

I am deeply grateful for all who love Christian Science, for all who are loyal to one God, for His two witnesses, Christ Jesus and Christian Science, which was discovered and founded by Mary Baker Eddy. Early Sunday School training from devoted and loyal students of Christian Science gave me a spontaneous faith in prayer to God and its ever-available answer.

It is with a deep desire to encourage others to turn wholeheartedly to God for healing that I write this testimony. Many years ago I was suffering from an internal septic condition for the removal of which a doctor and a specialist said that an operation was imperative.

It is with a feeling of deep gratitude that I relate my first major healing through the power of Christian Science. From the time I was a little child and all during my youth, I suffered from so-called epileptic fits, which were very distressing.

Through the study and application of Christian Science, I can say with the Psalmist ( 40:2 ), "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. " At the time that Christian Science came into my life I was disillusioned, bitter, and fearful, believing in neither God nor man.

Through the study of Christian Science I am becoming increasingly aware of the impersonal nature of the healing Christ. I should like to tell how this realization, revealed to me in a Christian Science lecture, brought about the instantaneous healing of a condition which several physicians had declared incurable.

I began earnestly studying Christian Science over five years ago. Although I had always known of this Science, and my mother is a Christian Scientist, I did not feel the need of studying for myself until then.

After reading my testimony, you will readily see how very grateful I am for Christian Science. Some months after my father's decease, I became ill.

" Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear" Isa. 65:24 ).

When I was in my early teens seldom a week went by that I was not out of school two or three days because of illness. During high school I never took the required physical education course because of these difficulties.
