Testimonies of Healing
It is with a deep gratitude and a great joy that I feel impelled to give this testimony. Christian Science has brought me back to life and given me joy, peace, and blessings in full measure.
I did not find Christian Science; it found me. I refused many times the invitation of a friend to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting until, through courtesy, I could no longer refuse.
It is a privilege to be able, through our periodicals, to share experiences and joys that come to us as a result of our earnest study of Christian Science. About three years ago a new line of work unfolded for me which has brought much happiness.
About fifteen years ago a neighbor who was studying Christian Science told me much about it and of course wanted me to be blessed as she had been. She gave me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
About thirty years ago I was sent to a hospital, where X rays were, taken, and I was told by the attending physician that I could not live without an immediate operation to remove a large tumor. Seven weeks after the operation was performed, I was told that nothing more could be done for me and was sent home to die.
During the first years of World War II we had a sick child. He had been in bed nearly all one winter, and although he was under the care of an eminent specialist, his condition was growing worse.
For a few days I had been in distress with dislocated vertebrae. Every position was painful.
This testimony is given in gratitude for blessings received since I took up the study of Christian Science. I became interested in this teaching many years ago.
Christian Science was called to my attention by the wonderful healing of a relative of eye trouble. Because I had been interested in religious questions ever since my youth and had read a great deal of literature on the subject, I wanted to know how the healing had been brought about.
It would not be possible, in the space allotted, to enumerate the blessings which have accrued to my family through the study and application of Christian Science since the year 1889. In May of that year my grandmother, who had been given up by four physicians, was healed in Christian Science of a rupture at time of childbirth, and from that time until her passing on, in 1945.
