Testimonies of Healing

Although I was in attendance at Sunday School during my last year of high school, my social activities at that time did not conform to the high standards we are taught in Christian Science. However, I knew that my Father-Mother God was tenderly guiding me, and after graduating from high school the opportunity unfolded for me to take a position which enabled me to have a college education later on.

I desire to express my gratitude for the many blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life. Among my first healings the following stands out in my thought because it was such a convincing proof to me and other members of my family that Christian Science heals.

I am grateful for the guidance and protection which I have experienced through the study and application of the rules of Christian Science. While serving in the United States Navy during the last war, I had numerous proofs of God's ever-present guidance and protection.

In deepest gratitude I send this testimony as evidence of the unfailing help that Christian Science has given me for over twenty years. Meeting Christian Scientists occasionally and noting their invariable cheerfulness and happiness, I felt that the secret must be in Christian Science, and I was eager to learn what it was.

In an old account book kept by my father an entry of April 26, 1889, shows the purchase of a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Some items of doctors' bills and medicine were noted before that date, but none afterwards.

In 1931 a testimony of mine was published in the Journal , and I should at this time like to express my increasing gratitude for Christian Science. While I have known and loved this religion all my life, I am finding that the experiences of the so-called human life are a daily challenge that can be a joy to the Christian Scientist.

How grateful I am that Christian Science was presented to my family when I was a small child, for it has been my sole'physician and guide ever since. Truly, it has been a "lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" ( Ps.

It was in 1910 that this wonderful truth —Christian Science—was first presented to me, and although I was skeptical, my prejudices were overcome during my first talk with a practitioner. Within the following two weeks, just through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of a severe nervous breakdown.

" And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God" ( Luke 17:15 ). With humility and gratitude I wish to acknowledge the power and love of divine Principle, which has healed, cleansed, and protected me and my family from many forms of error these past ten years.

It was in 1942, whilst I was serving in the National Fire Service of Great Britain, that I discovered I had a painful eruption of the skin which it was my duty to have examined by a doctor. I was obliged to leave my station, report sick, and submit a medical certificate giving the name of a contagious disease, which led to the fumigation of my service quarters.
