Testimonies of Healing
With a desire to make some small measure of return for the joy and inspiration that I have received from testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I offer this report, which can tell only a small portion of the good that has come into my experience through Christian Science. Our family learned of this religion through my father's healing of asthma at a time when an attack was expected to be fatal.
I am increasingly grateful for the many activities of the Christian Science movement provided by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, because they are all evidencing divine Love's care for humanity. For over thirty years I have relied solely on Christian Science, and it has never failed me.
Thirty years ago Christian Science came into my life. This beautiful religion lifted me out of a chronic state of fear and illness into health and joy and has given me a deep trust in God as infinite, eternal Love.
In 1931 I encountered economic difficulties and was also a slave to tobacco and alcohol. I decided to give Christian Science a trial in order to solve my economic problems.
I had the wonderful privilege of being brought up in Christian Science, and when living in or near a town where there was a Christian Science Sunday School, I was a regular attendant. For this alone I can never be grateful enough.
The first words that told me of Christian Science were, "Good is God. " From that moment God began to reveal Himself to me as good.
Mary Baker Eddy has written in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 13 ), "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals.
My gratitude is unconfined in my humble desire to tell some of the many demonstrations experienced since turning to Christian Science. Over a year ago I experienced a demonstration of mental surgery through Christian Science of an annoying physical condition which had been present for many years.
I am filled with gratitude to God for an outstanding healing which took place a number of years ago. At that time my son was afflicted with tuberculosis of the spine and hip.
My earliest experience with Christian Science came when as a young girl I was away on vacation in the company of some students of this Science. I had an attack of asthma, from which I had suffered for many years, and relief came through the work of these friends.
