Testimonies of Healing
In Psalms ( 107:8 ) we read, "Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" And on page 94 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we learn that giving thanks, or expressing gratitude, is an acknowledgment of the divine Principle which has healed us. In the Preface to Science and Health Mrs.
Christian Science was presented to me by a loved relative who, with her first reading of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, had a quick and complete healing of what doctors had diagnosed as an incurable condition.
After my mother's healing of kidney trouble, when I was a young girl, I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School. My first healing in Christian Science was that of bilious attacks, from which I suffered once or twice each year.
With a grateful heart I wish to relate a wonderful healing, which was brought about in a very short time. My eyesight suddenly became so dim that I could no longer read and often had to be assisted in my work or when out walking.
When I was a young girl Christian Science was brought to my mother, and she was healed of many illnesses. At that period it required much courage to proclaim one's interest in Christian Science.
One of my greatest blessings has been the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School for many years, because by applying Christian Science as I was taught, I have been able to solve numerous problems. Many healings have taken place, and discordant conditions in my home and office have been worked out harmoniously.
I have enjoyed the protection and blessings of Christian Science for many years, and I can gratefully testify to its healing and harmonizing influence. In 1915, at the age of twenty-one, I was urged by a physician to seek a milder climate because a diagnosis showed that I had incipient tuberculosis.
After my home had been completely broken up and the last enemy seemed to be claiming each member of the family in rapid succession, I became quite confused and did not know where to turn for help. At this time I was holding a position in the United States Government in Washington, D.
One day sixteen years ago I telephoned a Christian Science friend at four o'clock in the morning and asked for help for our infant son, who was suffering from pain in one ear. I still recall the loving voice which answered.
In gratitude for and obedience to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, which provides for the publishing of testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals, testimonies which have brought inspiration to me, I add my praise to God for His goodness.
