Testimonies of Healing

With the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed within two weeks of rheumatism of eleven years' standing. At this time I also was healed of sinus trouble with which I had been troubled all my life and for which I had had several operations.

The testimonies in the periodicals were what most appealed to me when I first took up the study of Christian Science. Their sincerity and indisputable logic convinced me that Christian Science works.

This testimony is written in gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving Christian Science to the world. I did not come into this Science for physical healing, although I was sorely in need of it.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for all that Christian Science has brought into my life since I began its study nearly three years ago that I give this testimony. The first Wednesday evening testimony meeting which I attended was a great comfort to me, for I was mentally and physically at the end of my endurance.

I had always had great faith in God. However, after my mother passed on I was in the depths of despair for many weeks; it seemed as though I were in a dark dungeon.

From childhood I have reaped the benefits of my mother's study of Christian Science, and I am deeply grateful for the beautiful healings that I have witnessed in our family as a result of its application. I myself have had many proofs of the healing efficacy of this religion, but in retrospect I find that the following experience has been especially comforting to me.

Like most Christian Scientists, I have derived great benefit from reading the testimonies in the Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, and the time is long overdue for me to express in writing my gratitude for the many blessings I have received through Science. Over fifteen years ago, whilst serving in the Royal Navy, I received many letters from my parents telling me of a wonderful religion which healed the sick.

For some years before I took up the study of Christian Science I felt in bondage to my home and hated my environment. I began to attend the Church of Christ, Scientist, for it was the only place where I seemed to find peace.

I accepted Christian Science because I was told it would help my two young children, who were constantly ailing, and I had lost confidence in medical remedies. When the youngest child was very ill, "in my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears" ( Ps.

The healing power of Christian Science was proved for me many years ago. I was suffering at the time from a physical condition which the doctors had failed to diagnose.
