Testimonies of Healing
With a heart filled with gratitude I wish to express my appreciation for Christian Science. I was seventeen years of age when Christian Science came into our home.
Many years ago it was my joy ful experience to find Christian Science; or, to be more explicit, it found me. My mental condition at the time I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was one of confusion and turmoil.
This testimony is prompted by gratitude for our beloved periodicals and for the healing thought expressed in an article in an issue of the Journal. The clear light of Love shining in the joyous faces of friends who visited my parents when I was a young child awoke in me a deep desire to be a Christian Scientist.
Some fourteen years ago I was suffering from heart trouble, and a friend with whom I worked in business and who knew of my difficulty laid a copy of the Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel on my desk and asked me if I had ever read them. When I said I had not, he remarked that perhaps I should like to, and so to be courteous I took them home.
At a time of a diphtheria epidemic in the small town in which I lived as a child. I was suffering from this disease.
In 1925 I was ushered into Christian Science through the healing of nervous prostration. While I was under Christian Science treatment, low blood pressure, severe backaches, headaches, and a chronic condition of constipation disappeared.
Over forty years ago Christian Science came into our family. My mother, desiring more light on the Bible, inquired of our pastor if he could recommend a book which would enlighten the truths in the Bible, but he had nothing to offer.
With a deep sense of gratitude to God for Christian Science, I give this testimony. I was brought up in an orthodox faith, but was never fully satisfied with its teachings.
Some time ago a very unpleasant-looking growth appeared under my eye. I declared the truth for myself, that I could as God's child reflect only perfection.
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which truly meets our daily needs. Some time ago my husband was told at his place of business that because of a large decrease in sales it would be necessary to let him go.
