When a child I was invited to visit a Christian Science Sunday School, and I am so grateful that I was receptive enough to realize that Christian Science is the truth; I never again desired to go hack to my former Sunday School. For the first time it was explained to me what God is. I attended the Sunday School until twenty years of age, and I have since had the privilege of teaching other children.
My first healing was of bilious attacks, which I had experienced periodically during my childhood and which generally lasted several days. The last time I had one of these attacks, my mother, who had begun to read Christian Science, decided not to give me the usual medicine, in spite of opposition in the home, but to rely entirely on Christian Science. She read to me during the day from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the next morning I arose perfectly well; and I have never had a recurrence of the trouble.
Another healing was of a carious bone condition in my mouth. The pain was early overcome, but an open sore and periodic draining persisted for several months. After reading a testimony of the healing of a similar condition in one of our Christian Science periodicals, I again read the healing of a carious bone condition by Mrs. Eddy on pages 192 and 193 of Science and Health and also the statement on page 162 where, in speaking of Truth as an alterative, our Leader says, "The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind." Within a day or two, after studying these passages, I noticed my mouth was perfectly healed, as was also a corn on my foot.
