Testimonies of Healing

Centuries ago Christ Jesus said ( John 8:32 ), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. " He was stating a spiritual law which is just as applicable to our problems today as it was then.

It is with deep gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. Several years ago with the help of a loving practitioner I was healed of a foot infection.

It has been many years since Christian Science came to my attention. A loved one was suffering, and a traveling salesman who was calling on a business errand, seeing our need, left with the parting remark: "Get Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy and read it.

In my early girlhood I was a member of an orthodox church and took an active part in all of its activities, giving my wholehearted service. But I always felt that this church, as well as others I knew of, was not fulfilling its duty when it made no provision for the healing of the sick.

I have enjoyed the benefits of Christian Science for over forty years, and I therefore feel impelled to give my testimony. I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, but during the years I have studied it I have experienced a number of healings, which include the overcoming of influenza, weak heart, stomach trouble, colds, and sick headaches.

Because I have seen some glorious results of the understanding and application of Christian Science both in my own life and in that of others, I gladly bear witness to the power of divine Science. Not long after I first heard of Christian Science, I began to read parts of Science and Health and the other writings of Mrs.

Paul said to the Corinthians ( I Cor. 2:1, 4 ): "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

When I was a very young student of Christian Science, I was attacked by venereal disease. At first I felt a terrific sense of shock and was embarrassed to think that I, a student of Christian Science, should experience such a disease.

It was over forty years ago that my mother, who was in poor health and seemed unable to receive help from materia medica, was led to ask a neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist, about her religion. They talked for several hours, and my mother came home convinced that Christian Science was the truth, the Comforter promised by Jesus.

That God is "a God at hand" as well as "a God afar off," the absolute assurance given us in Jeremiah ( 23:23 ), that He is knowable, ever present, and all-powerful, and that Christian Science is the final and complete revelation of the truth of God and man, is indeed the pearl of great price. My family became interested in Christian Science when I was a young child, and since that time this Science of Christianity has met my every need.
