I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School in my early teens, but I did not keep up the study of Christian Science. After I was married and when our oldest son was a baby, he was constantly troubled with colds.
Christian Science was first presented to me in 1910, at which time I had a passing interest in it as one of the many religions and philosophies which I had investigated in my search for a satisfying faith. In the summer of 1913, however, I was in a state of mental depression bordering on melancholia.
During World War II my husband, our two children, and I did not have a home of our own, and the necessity of living with others made me very despondent and frustrated. My mother, who is a Christian Scientist, advised me to seek help from a Christian Science practitioner.
It was my privilege to be a member of a Christian Science Organization and to serve on its various committees during my college years. I am especially grateful for the privilege of serving on its lecture and meta-physical committees on the fuller understanding of the meaning of service and the great inspiration that came to me as a result of this work, I am deeply grateful.

In 1903 my mother was healed instantaneously in Christian Science of a physical difficulty while she was attending The Mother Church. I was placed in the Christian Science Sunday School and had the privilege of attending for fourteen years.
