It is with a deep desire to encourage others to turn wholeheartedly to God for healing that I write this testimony.
Many years ago I was suffering from an internal septic condition for the removal of which a doctor and a specialist said that an operation was imperative. The thought of an operation scared me, and I often said to my husband, "If only Jesus were here now, he would heal me." Then I heard of Christian Science and sought help from a practitioner. She explained to me that the Christ is and always has been present to heal and to save. She made me realize for the first time the true meaning of the words, "God is Love," and the fact that Love does not afflict, but forever blesses, sustains, and protects His children and is the only power. Her unselfed and loving care for me, a stranger, raised my thoughts to an appreciation of her words. I came away from that interview feeling uplifted, encouraged, and beloved and ready to take my stand steadfastly for Truth.
I asked the doctor who had been attending me daily not to come again unless I called him and explained that I was having Christian Science treatment. I stopped all medical treatment and put my whole trust in God. However, my husband was very fearful, and in a few days at his request the doctor came to make arrangements with me to have a final examination prior to the operation, and he told me of the gravity of the situation. Trembling, I agreed to submit to the examination the next day, knowing it to be my opportunity to prove my faith in God to be well founded. In the meantime the practitioner was doing her loving, consecrated work. After a careful and lengthy examination, the doctor declared, "I cannot find any trace of the trouble." I was healed! With wonder and joy and gratitude unspeakable I felt the presence and power of divine Love.
