Testimonies of Healing

" Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God" ( II Cor. 1:3, 4 ).

I Should like to submit this testimony as a token of obedience. I have come to hold this quality in high regard since receiving a healing which was manifestly due to the simple desire to be obedient.

I am grateful for Christian Science. I have not wavered from it in twenty-five years, no matter what the problem.

For a year after I had seen the truth of Christian Science in action and acknowledged it, I maintained that so far as I was concerned there was nothing wrong with smoking tobacco and I was quite happy to partake of both Science and tobacco. I did find, however, that I became irritated while listening to testimonies given at Wednesday meetings by people who stated they had been healed of the smoking habit.

If I could enumerate all the blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life in the last twenty years, they would fill a volume. But this I can tell, that it has healed all kinds of diseases, made our home a happier, more harmonious place, given us the right concept of supply, and enriched our lives in many ways.

Each day my heart is filled with a song of gratitude for the great gift of Christian Science and for the many blessings which have come to me as a result of its study. In 1905, after several years of semi-invalidism, my father was told by medical authorities that he had an incurable heart condition, and as a last resort he turned to Christian Science.

Over ten years ago I began the systematic study and practice of Christian Science through a healing experienced as the result of scientific right thinking on the part of a friend, who afterwards became a practitioner. She gave me no treatment, as I had asked for none.

In gratitude for many blessings received through the study of Christian Science, I give this testimony. About thirty years ago I was healed of asthma, from which I had suffered since I was a small child and which had become very severe.

Forty-two years ago my father was healed of consumption of the bowels through reading our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Since then many healings have taken place in our family, which at the time of my father's healing consisted of seven small children.

I should like to express gratitude for the healings, guidance, and protection which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. Nearly twenty years ago, as a Mother's Day gift, I agreed to go one Sunday to the Christian Science Sunday School because my mother wanted that more than any gift I could give her.
