In October, 1895, l came to live with a family who were Christian Scientists. I found the book Science and Health lying on the table, and began to read, and later to inquire what it was. I was so interested in the book that after my day's work was done I would read until ten o'clock at night, and I continued reading it for several weeks. After reading the book a short time, I found that my appetite for tobacco, of over forty years' standing, had disappeared and an appetite for liquor was also destroyed. I have had no desire for either since that time.
I have been healed of different physical ailments, one of which was rheumatism. I was unable to walk or turn myself in bed without assistance, but with the aid of a practitioner after two weeks' treatment it was all overcome. This occurred four years ago and I have never had any return of the disease. I have always enjoyed reading the Journals and Sentinels, especially the testimonies. I send this, hoping it may help some one who is struggling for freedom. I can truly say I am thankful for the little knowledge I have of Christian Science and am striving to gain more.—Lancaster, O.
